Resources
A collection of resources I've found useful for building this website, ranging from photos, to code snippets, to whatever other miscellaneous stuff I might need. This is both so I can have something for my own reference, and so I can share these tips with a bunch of other people who wanna forge their own little corner of the internet!
Site building
- Sadgrl's Layout Builder (useful for building the "skeleton" for this whole site)
- CSS Column Layout guides by w3schools (used for organizing information in a coincise way)
- CSS Grids by w3schools (used to display an evenly-spaced grid of text or photos)
- JS Button Tabs by w3schools (useful for displaying different "pages" with different information)
- Free Formatter (neaten up your HTML code if it starts to get too messy)
- CSS Beautifier (neaten up your CSS code if it starts to get too messy)
Styling
- Coolors colour pallete generator (helpful for generating colour palletes for the site)
- ColorSpace (useful if you have a specific colour in mind for a pallete, but don't know any others that may go with it)
- DaFont (used to download free fonts to use for your site)
- Iconify icon sets (free favicon sets that can be easily added to your site)
Images
- List of tiled backgrounds curated by Sadgrl / Goblin-Heart (helps you find good tiled backgrounds for the CSS of your site)
- Tiled background generators (can't find any tiled backgrounds that fit your site? make one!)
- @animatedglittergraphics-n-more's Tumblr blog (find page dividers, stamps, and other graphics)
- Unsplash (find free for personal use photography, illustrations, and artwork)
- Pixabay (same as unsplash)
- Pexels (find free stock photos and videos)
- StockSnap (find stock images that can be used without attribution)
- Make seamless texture online (automatically converts photos into seamless images)
Miscellaneous
- Postimages (exactly what it says on the tin, very good image hosting platform that doesn't even require a login)
- JukeHost (MP4 hoster similar to Postimages which you can use to make music players)
- SpotifyDown (download Spotify songs as MP4s, which can be uploaded to JukeHost)
